Serious question for my fellow snake keepers.

Serious question for my fellow snake keepers.

My female dumerils boa, Pubu, who had a respiratory infection LAST year, "cured" with 2 rounds of injected antibiotics, has recently started breathing out loudly, periodically, especially after I've held her. I'm worried that she may have a new infection (or the old one may have returned).

Keith thinks she's just hissing (as in, is annoyed).

I disagree... however, I haven't heard any "crackling" or other lung sounds like I heard last year.... just heavy exhales. Well, maybe the occasional "whistling nostril" sound.

Have ANY OF YOU had a snake keep breathing loudly for extended periods of time ... and STILL be healthy?

I plan to call the vet in the morning and ask them, as well.

I really HOPE it's not another infection. I didn't enjoy giving her injections (any more than she enjoyed getting them).... BUT I'll do it again if needed to keep her well.

Thanks!!!
